Due to a bunch of potential steampunk events happening in Toronto this summer, plus boredom, I did a little dress-up last night to get an idea of what I want my steampunk outfit to look like.

That seems like a lot, but I have confidence in myself.

I had tons of fun at the Halloween party at the Labyrinth Gaming Cafe last night. Nerds, costumes, pizza, free DDR...

Good times.

For the party I also decided to "jazz up" my stripey bustle dress. I added some lace to the neckline and added a ribbon belt with a cute little brooch that belonged to my great-grandmother.

Yay! My fabric arrived from home today! I'm so excited to get to sewing, I've really missed it. My first order of business - new sleeves for the stripey dress. I was never happy with the first ones, and realized afterwards that I put them in wrong, with the seam going on the top rather than the front and back. Oops?

So, I have finally been able to post the pictures of me in my completed bustle dress taken at Manoir Des Erables in Quebec. (Thank you Mum for mailing my missing camera parts). Hope you enjoy.

I also got some more progress done on the bustle dress. I'm looking in good shape for Wednesday.

I cut out and sewed on the bias ruffles to the overskirt, then decided I wanted to gather them, since the plain ruffles were a bit un-fluffy. I gathered and sewed the ruffles to the underskirt and they look great. Now I just need to take the ruffles off ( Read more... )
